Lowes is excited to facilitate learning opportunities and initiatives through interactive apparel.
The new not-for-profit Learn our Land hoodie features an interactive map* that encourages a deeper understanding of Australia's shared history, in order to make people feel hopeful for the future.
Lowes wants to support education that contains concepts to provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives that go beyond Naidoc week, which has been celebrated since 1975.
There are over 500 different Indigenous nations, who lived on the Australian continent for over 50,000 years and helped to create a unique Australian identity and spirit. Our First Nations people are the oldest continuous living culture in the world.
In Australia, there are over 250 Indigenous languages, including 800 dialects. Each language is specific to a particular place and people. In some places like Arnhem Land, multiple languages are spoken in a small area. In places like the Western Desert, dialects of one language are spoken over a big area.
*Please note this is not an accurate depiction of the map, this map has been curated to coincide with our school wear network.
